Oravet Dental Chews for dogs

Author: The Vet Shed

We hear all the time that plaque and tartar gives bad bread and leads to gum disease and tooth loss.   That is why we are advised to brush our teeth twice a day, mouth wash and floss.   But what about our dogs?   We know that they get the same condition but sometimes brushing their teeth just isnt practical.  That is where Oravet comes in.

Oravet is the new leader is canine dental health chews.  Most dental chews rely on the mechancial action of the dog chewing to scrub the teeth.   Oravet is different, it is a dual action dental chew.  Not only do Oravet chews scrub away the plaque they also contain a special ingrediant......

Oravet contain Delmopinol, they are the first and only dental chew currently on the market to contain Delmopinal.   Delmopinal has been used for years in a human oral rinse.   As soon as the dog starts chewing on the Oravet chew the Delmopinol is released through the mouth.   It creates a barrier in the mouth that prevents bacteria from attaching to the teeth reducing the build up of plaque and tartar.  This will in turn reduce bad breath

Removing plaque from the mouth is important as if it is left it will harden and turn to tartar.  The combination of bacteria laden plaque and tartar will lead to gum disease creating awful bad bread.   This will lead to advanced dental disease with gum recession, tooth loss, bone loss and the dog will be in chronic pain.    This bacteria that is associated with advanced dental disease will also enter the blood stream and start to invade other organs.   It causes damage to the heart and liver and is one of the main causes of kidney disease.

These Oravet chews are designed to be given daily.  There is a size for all sized dogs and all they need is one a day.   They are low calorie so you dont need to be too worried about weight gain.

Oravet are enjoyed by most dogs.  Make sure you select the right pack size for your dog as they do need to be fed fresh.  Each Oravet chew is individually wrapped to keep it fresh.  If the dog does not eat it over time it will harden and it should be thrown out.    So make sure when feeding it to your dog has time to enjoy it and eat it.

Dogs must be over 6 months to start on Oravet and you need to keep them away from cats.
