MALASEB Shampoo An excellent broad spectrum medicated shampoo, suitable for all forms of skin infections.
Registered Name: Dermcare Malaseb Medicated Foam
Composition: Miconazole nitrate 20 g/L, chlorhexidine gluconate 20 g/L.
Actions: Miconazole is a synthetic imidazole derivative which has a pronounced antifungal effect against Malassezia (Pityrosporum) pachydermatis, the dermatophytes Microsporum gypseum, M. canis and Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and a potent activity against Gram-positive bacteria.
Chlorhexidine has a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, moulds and fungi.
The combination of miconazole and chlorhexidine is efficacious at killing the causative organisms of seborrhoeic dermatitis, M. pachydermatis and Staphylococcus intermedius. Staph. intermedius occurs as an overgrowth pathogen in the presence of Malassezia and is the main bacterial species responsible for bacterial dermatitis in the dog and cat.
Indications: Treatment of seborrhoeic dermatitis associated with Staphylococcus intermedius and Malassezia (Pityrosporum) pachydermatis; aid in the treatment of dermatophyte infections (ringworm) due to Microsporum canis, M. gypseum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes in dogs and cats by decreasing the time to clinical resolution and killing infective spores.
Directions for use: Wet the animal thoroughly with clean water. Apply the foam to the animal at several points and massage into the coat. A sponge assists lathering and penetration of the coat. Ensure that Malaseb is applied around the lips, under the tail and between the toes as these areas harbour causative organisms. Allow to stand for ten minutes, then rinse off with clean water. Repeat twice weekly until symptoms abate then use weekly, or on veterinary advice.
With dermatophytosis (ringworm) all in-contact animals should be treated to limit infection spreading and environmental contamination.

One shampoo treatment with this product resulted in all of this clearing up and going away. I find one treatment every week or two is enough to keep things in check. This is a miracle product, nothing else worked. Just follow the instructions and you can't go wrong.

I believe it's due to a food that contained potato in it which lead to what seems to be yeast infection. I read good things about this shampoo & decided to try it. I've only used it 3 times so far but it seemed to have helped with the itching. hopefully with more use the hair will come back & the black elephant skin will dissapear.. My order arrived quickly and well packed, very pleased with your service & have just ordered another one.

Relief for skin issues
31 July 2014Sadly, I have a family of Westies with allergies and associated itching and skin problems. My vet advised to use Malaseb which cannot take the allergy away, but regularly washing with this shampoo alleviates the itching as it addresses the secundary itching caused by yeasts. I got a tip that this shampoo is (including shipment) much cheaper in Australia than in Europe and I am happy that I found the Vet Shed. Excellent service; I will definitely order again from them when the bottles are empty.
