Ammo Allwormer Paste for Horses – Broad-Spectrum Worm Control

Ammo Allwormer Paste combines two powerful actives – Abamectin and Morantel Tartrate – to deliver broad-spectrum control against internal parasites in horses. Effective even in cases of resistance, it’s a trusted solution for protecting your horse’s health year-round.

Active Ingredients (per gram)

  • Abamectin – 4 mg
  • Morantel Tartrate – 167 mg

Parasites Controlled

Ammo is highly effective against the following internal parasites:

  • Tapeworms
  • Large and small strongyles (including resistant strains)
  • Ascarids (roundworms)
  • Pinworms
  • Hairworms
  • Large-mouthed stomach worms
  • Threadworms
  • Lungworms
  • Bots
  • Onchocerca microfilariae (cutaneous parasites)

How It Works

  • Abamectin: A macrocyclic lactone that disrupts nerve signals in parasites, causing paralysis and death. Also enhances GABA release for faster immobilisation.
  • Morantel Tartrate: A tetrahydropyrimidine that targets acetylcholine receptors, leading to spastic paralysis and expulsion of roundworms and tapeworms.

Indications for Use

  • Tapeworm infestations
  • Large and small strongyles (Strongylus vulgaris)
  • Roundworms (including larvae)
  • Bots
  • Summer sores (Habronema and Draschia)
  • Onchocerca species (cutaneous onchocerciasis)

Dosage & Administration

Each 32.5g syringe treats one horse up to 600kg. For foals and ponies, administer 5.4g (one 5mL mark) per 100kg body weight.

Insert the nozzle into the side of the horse’s mouth and place the paste over the back of the tongue. Raise the horse’s head to encourage swallowing. If any is spat out, re-administer the lost portion.

Withholding Period

  • Meat (Horses): 28 days

When to Use Ammo

Ammo should be part of your regular worming program for horses, especially in cases of known resistance. Ideal for use every 6–8 weeks depending on pasture management and parasite load. Works well in rotation with other actives like moxidectin and praziquantel. Always consult your vet for a tailored parasite control plan.

Vet Shed Nurse Tip

Ammo is mint flavoured, which many horses tolerate better. Still, some may resist paste wormers. Be sure to place the dose far back on the tongue and hold your horse’s head up briefly. If they spit any out, re-dose the lost amount to ensure full protection.
