Passwell Red Factor Canary Seed is a specialised seed mix formulated to help maintain bright feather colour in red canaries. It is fortified with the red carotenoid pigment canthaxanthin, designed to be readily consumed and available during new feather growth.

Supplementation only affects the colour of growing feathers, not existing ones, so changes may not be visible until the next moult. This product only impacts canaries with red factor genetics.

When to Feed

To support colour during feather growth, Red Factor Canary Seed should be available whenever your birds are growing new feathers.

• During primary moult (summer to autumn): Feed as 100% of the seed component of the diet, just prior to and during the moult.
• Rest of the year: Feed as at least 50% of the usual seed diet to maintain canthaxanthin levels for any out-of-season moulting.

Feeding Guide (Per Bird, Daily)

• Non-breeding canaries: 5g (½ scoop)
• Breeding or moulting canaries: 8g (¾ scoop)

Ingredients

Canary seed, hulled oats, French white millet, Japanese millet, canola, linseed, canthaxanthin (50mg/kg). Some seasonal variation in seed content and composition may occur.

Extra Nutrition Tip

If seed is fed as the main diet, birds can become deficient in vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and amino acids, particularly during breeding. For a more balanced diet, supplement with Egg & Biscuit or Crumbles, and offer a range of fresh seeding grasses, leafy greens and finely diced vegetables.
