This product helps promote the quick and effective absorption of mycotoxins, minimizing potential health and performance issues that may arise from their presence in your horse’s diet.

Mycotoxins, produced by certain fungi found in pasture grasses, hay, chaff, straw, and grains, can have a significant impact on your horse’s health. These toxins are challenging to detect due to their odorless, tasteless, and invisible nature. The occurrence of mycotoxins is difficult to predict, which is why adding a broad-spectrum mycotoxin binder like HYGAIN SAFEGUARD EQ to your horse’s diet is recommended. The binder works by safely binding the mycotoxins, allowing them to pass through the digestive system and exit with manure.

What are Mycotoxins? Mycotoxins are harmful secondary compounds produced by certain fungi, commonly found in warm, humid environments or improperly stored feeds. These toxins can contaminate grains and roughage, affecting your horse’s digestive system.

When mycotoxins enter the digestive tract, they are difficult for the horse’s stomach to deactivate. They can travel to the sensitive small intestine and hindgut, where they may cause significant issues, such as:

• Respiratory problems
• Gastrointestinal issues (e.g. colic)
• Neurological disorders (e.g. neurotoxicity, ataxia)
• Reproductive failures
• Immunosuppression
• Muscle disease (e.g. atypical myopathy)

Symptoms of Mycotoxin Exposure: Although symptoms can vary and are often non-specific, common signs of mycotoxin exposure include:

Feeding Instructions: HYGAIN SAFEGUARD EQ® should be added directly to your horse’s feed. The recommended feeding rate is 30g per day (one level scoop) for a 500kg horse.
