Royal Canin Glycobalance is a complete veterinary diet specifically developed to support the nutritional management of diabetes mellitus in adult dogs. Diabetes mellitus is a condition where the body's ability to produce or use insulin is reduced. Insulin works to move glucose from food into the cells of the body to provide energy. Without adequate insulin action, glucose remains in the bloodstream at elevated levels rather than being used by the cells.

In dogs, type I diabetes is most common - a condition where insulin production has been reduced or stopped due to pancreatic disease. This form of diabetes is typically irreversible and requires lifelong management combining insulin therapy, dietary management, weight control and appropriate veterinary care. The Glycobalance wet diet is formulated to support this management through nutrition, with a low starch formula specifically designed to help slow the rise in blood glucose after eating.

The wet formula has been further improved in the Glycobalance range with an even lower starch level than the previous Diabetic wet diet, as well as the introduction of algal oil as a sustainable alternative source of EPA and DHA. Supplied in a convenient box of 12 x 410g cans.

Transitioning from Royal Canin Diabetic to Glycobalance

For any dietary change, Royal Canin recommends transitioning gradually over a minimum of seven days to allow your dog's digestive system to adjust comfortably to the new formula.
