How does Ipakitine work?
Ipakitine contains ingredients that act as phosphate binders, reducing the absorption of phosphates from the intestines. This helps to mimic or enhance the effects of a phosphate-restricted diet. Additionally, Ipakitine helps reduce the absorption of certain uraemic toxins that can impair kidney function. Through this dual action, Ipakitine supports the health and function of your pet’s kidneys.
Giving Ipakitine to your pet
Your veterinary surgeon will advise you on the amount that your cat or dog will need, here are the levels that are usually recommended:
1g / 5kg (1 level scoop) body weight twice a day. If used in this way, one pot lasts 25 days for a 5kg cat.
Slightly moisten the food if your pet eats a dry diet, to get the powder to stick to it.

By: Tanya on 15 February 2026My cat is very fussy with food, so I was highly sceptical when our vet said "Just put it in his food - he won't taste it," because that has definitely not been the case for every other medication he is requires. Thankfully this is different, and my cat does eat his food without even noticing it has been "contaminated" by the Ipakitine.
