Interceptor Spectrum is a monthly palatable meaty Chew for the prevention of heartworm and the treatment and prevention of roundworm, hookworm and whipworm and tapeworm in dogs.
Actions Milbemycin oxime prevents heartworm and controls gastrointestinal nematodes. It increases nematode membrane permeability to chloride ions via glutamate gated chloride ion channels, leading to flaccid paralysis and death of the parasite. Praziquantel controls tapeworms by modifying the permeability of their membranes to calcium, inducing damage to the membranes and resulting in the death of the parasite.
Indications Monthly treatment prevents
- heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) infection,
- controls adult roundworm (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina),
- immature roundworm (Toxocara canis),
- adult whipworm (Trichuris vulpis),
- adult hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum),
- adult tapeworm (Echinococcus granulosus, Taenia pisiformis and Dipylidium caninum)
- and aids in the control of adult hookworm (Uncinaria stenocephala) infection in dogs.
Warnings Some mild, transient, shock-like reactions have occurred when treating heartworm positive dogs carrying a high number of microfilariae at the time of the first treatment with milbemycin oxime. Dogs should be tested and be free from both adult heartworm and microfilariae before starting on preventative treatment with Interceptor Spectrum.
Precautions Interceptor Spectrum provides a wide margin of safety in dogs when used according to label directions. Milbemycin oxime has been tested in over 75 different breeds of dogs, including pregnant females, breeding males and females, and puppies from 2 weeks of age. Satisfactory margins of safety have been demonstrated for both milbemycin oxime and praziquantel when administered during all reproductive phases.

While your dog thinks it's getting a reward, your protecting your dog from nasties. It's a win/win for both you and your dog!!

My Cavalier King Charles last year had the annual injection at the same time she had kennel cough, and parvo vaccinations. Sadly she had a bad reaction to one of the vaccinations and I think its Kennel cough but the vet has now told me to give her this interceptor for her heart and other worming treatments. The poor thing got meningitis, pneumonia and paralysis in her back legs. She was very sick but has bounced back and is her normal happy self now

Interceptor Heart worm and all wormer
16 June 2014I got put on to this product when I bought our Toy poodle. Since then I have both dogs on them. 6yr old Toy Poodle and 11yr old Siberian Husky. They both chew them up and think of it as a treat. I trust this product to not only do Heart Worm monthly but other gastro intestinal worms as well. I recommend this product to anyone who loves their dog.

2 February 2014I have used this product for quite a few years now and I think that should say it all. But I must admit that my dog has decided all of a sudden not to take it like she used to. Has the product changed in anyway. Before she used to almost grab it out of my hands now she turns her nose up at it and I have to break it into her food before she will take it.

Tasty and seem to work

Interceptor Green Chews.
15 September 2013I have been giving our dog interceptor heart tablets for years and a couple of years ago they changed to a chew arrangement, my dog hated this idea but we managed to put them in his food and get him to eat them that way. The product has now added the green chews and I will have to follow up on this review next time as I cant get him to eat Greenies, I hope we can have a happy solution to his Interceptor this month. The Vet Shed service is excellent, fast and very well priced. I have been buying from them for 6+years. Thank you.
