So far so goodBy: Miia on 18 September 2021The amount of powder required is very small and easy to add to food. My dog eats it happily. Only used for a week so far so still waiting to see how it works, but so far easier than teethbrushing!

Plaque Off Dog 40gm andBy: robyn denmeade on 24 November 2017my ridgeback Shiloh due to being born with a cleft palette, which has been rectified by surgery, had developed a problem as he got older with bad bacteria in his mouth which caused excessive tarter to gather around his teeth & gums. On researching what to do I came across a product in Norway and the story behind it - which was Plaque Off. Found it at The Vet Shed and have been using it on his dinner now for a few months. Yes, I believe it has definitely made a difference and so far there is no tarter build up on his teeth or gums. I must admit I also brush his teeth with Dentipet Toothpaste most nights as a back-up to the Plaque Off product. One very happy boy now .
Worth itBy: Ellen on 17 August 2017The active ingredient is ascophyllum nodosum - a type of brown seaweed. I've bought it before for my dog and have noticed she has less plaque . I've also read reviews from people online who've become frustrated with the product but I believe this stems from ignorance about how the product is supposed to work. I did research through my uni site database and found a number of studies on the ingredient in both humans and dogs/cats. Unlike dental foods which work by physically removing plaque, this product is a form of passive dental hygiene. It's meant to be used in combination with chews or brushing. Of course the gold standard is brushing, but I've found this really helps my dog with the areas I can't get at with my little finger brush. Basically, it works systemically by absorbing through the intestinal wall, into the blood stream, where the components of the digested algae are absorbed into the saliva. It has been proven to prevent accumulation of plaque by affecting the ability of plaque to stick to surfaces in the mouth. Existing tartar becomes porous, loosens by itself and can be more easily removed by brushing. One of the studies said that in dogs/cats whose owners do not actively brush it still helps; oral health deterioration is slowed by half.

Great ProductBy: Odette on 19 September 2016I have been using the Troy Plaque Off for my 9-year old staffy for some time now, and find it does reduce the plaque on her teeth, she doesn't like having her teeth brushed, so this is a great alternative. TheVetShed price was the cheapest I could find on the internet at the time of purchasing.
Good ValueBy: Sue on 29 January 2016I was recommended this product from my local vet, but they wanted to charge me $14 dearer.
