Sweating is a natural and essential process for horses, especially during exercise, travel, or hot weather. But with sweat comes significant loss of key electrolytes—including chloride, sodium, potassium, and magnesium—which are vital for hydration, muscle function, nerve signalling, and recovery.

Restore Paste is a sugar-free, carefully formulated oral electrolyte supplement designed to match the specific composition of horse sweat. With the addition of a buffering agent to support gastrointestinal comfort, it’s ideal for performance horses, particularly those prone to gastric sensitivity.

Why supplement with electrolytes?
Electrolytes are mineral salts that regulate fluid balance, nerve and muscle activity, and the body’s hydration response. Without replacement, electrolyte loss can lead to:

• Dehydration
• Muscle fatigue and weakness
• Reduced performance
• Suppressed thirst
• Increased risk of overheating

Sweating horses—especially in hot, humid environments—can lose over 15 litres of sweat in a single event. Replenishment is essential for recovery and ongoing performance.

Active ingredients (per 60g tube):

• Chloride – 14,400 mg (24.5%)
• Sodium – 7,000 mg (11.65%)
• Potassium – 3,990 mg (6.65%)
• Calcium – 600 mg (1.00%)
• Magnesium – 300 mg (0.50%)

Feeding guidelines:
During competition:

• Administer 1 tube per 45 minutes of work, spaced evenly across the day.

For travelling horses:

• Preload with ½ to 1 tube 2 hours before travel.
• Administer 1 tube every 4–6 hours during transit.

Best given after a large drink of water or when water is readily available.

Important: Always provide free-choice access to clean, fresh water. Consult a veterinarian before administering electrolytes to horses that are unwilling to drink.
