Wire MuzzleBy: Helen on 5 January 2018I purchase a plastic muzzle from the vet about 6 months ago. The dog, a Kelpy Rottweiler cross hated it and set out to destroy it from day one. She bashed her muzzled face on trees, rocks and poles until she had smashed several plastic struts that held this muzzle together. Within 6 months the plastic muzzle needed to be replaced. This time I bought a wire muzzle online from the Vet Shed. It needed to be adjusted to prevent her from pulling it off over her short snout but once this was done (with a few mallet blows on the top of the muzzle) it fit her perfectly. Because of the more open design and the soft leather protection on the top of her snout, she was no longer bothered by having to wear a muzzle. Now she is quite happy to have it put on so that she can go for walks in non-leashed areas. I feel more relaxed because she is no longer a threat to small fluffy dogs and she is more relaxed because this muzzle is much less claustrophobic and she seems to be able to forget that she's wearing a muzzle. This muzzle feels much stronger, lighter and more durable than the plastic one. Great relief all round.
