Oxymav B Oxytetracycline antibiotic for in water medication, a broad spectrum antibiotic particularly helpful for respiratory infections.
Registered Name Oxymav B for Birds Soluble Broadspectrum Antibiotic Powder
Composition Oxytetracycline hydrochloride 10 g/kg.
Actions Broad spectrum antibiotic against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, certain Rickettsiae, Chlamydia, Actinomycetes, Mycoplasma, protozoa and some of the larger viruses. It acts by inhibition of proteins in the ribosomes of the bacteria. Oxytetracycline crosses most biological barriers in the body.
Indications Diseases due to susceptible organisms in ornamental cage birds.
Precautions
Safety directions. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes, and avoid inhaling dust.
Disposal. Dispose of empty container by wrapping with paper and putting in garbage.
Dosage and Administration Chronic respiratory disease (CRD) and bacterial enteritis. Dissolve 5 g (1 rounded measure)/50 mL drinking water. Make fresh solution daily. Continue treatment for three to five days, or as directed by a veterinarian. 50 mL of prepared solution will treat two large birds (parrots, cockatoos) or ten small birds (canaries, finches, budgerigars).
